Hispana Leadership Summit Returns to Miami for Seventh Year during Hispanic Heritage Month and Announces New Sessions

Event hosted by Poder Hispanic and Vanidades magazines, along with State Farm

MIAMI, FL – September 4, 2012 – Less than a month away from the official start of the 7th Annual Hispana Leadership Summit, event organizers today announced that “Total Wellness” with Susan G. Komen has been added to the agenda.  Last month Poder Hispanic and Vanidades, in conjunction with State Farm, unveiled the list of dynamic speakers and interactive agenda for the seventh installment of HLS 2012.  The much-anticipated three-day summit will take place September 20-22, 2012 at the luxurious Turnberry Isle resort in sunny Miami.

Susan G. Komen will once again host an educational women’s health session during HLS titled “Total Wellness” to offer insightful information and valuable tools to stay healthy, be stronger and live better.

The Hispana Leadership Summit (HLS) is a gathering of Latina professionals and entrepreneurs from around the country who will participate in an empowering selection of career building opportunities to sharpen their skills and expand networks. Registration for the three-day summit includes all meals, conference sessions, golf clinics and the iconic All White Affair featuring the annual Latinas of Excellence Awards.

According to recent figures reported by American Express OPEN, in the past 15 years, the number of women-owned businesses grew by 54%; there are now 8.3 million women-owned businesses in the United States.  Coupled with the fact that there are more than 50 million Hispanics living in the U.S., one quickly understands the clout Latinas carry in the workforce and why the Hispana Leadership Summit continues to be so successful and grow year after year.

“Latinas—whether entrepreneurs, corporate executives or influencers—are at the helm of Hispanic households and thriving businesses in the U.S.,” said Madelin Bosakewich of Televisa Publishing + Digital and the mastermind behind the planning of the event.  “By continuing the HLS tradition, we are offering Latina leaders the tools and resources to build new professional connections and further develop their leadership skills to succeed in an ever-evolving, fast-paced market.”

The opening session of HLS 2012 is all about getting connected and kicking off the weekend in a fun and energizing way.  Ivette Mayo, Chief Creative Officer of Yo Soy Expressions will facilitate “Latina Nation – Connecting our Community” on Thursday, September 20 for the welcome opening keynote and cocktail reception.

On Friday and Saturday morning, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an empowering selection of career building opportunities, sharpen their skills and experience motivating keynotes, inspirational speeches, interactive seminars and coaching sessions from speakers who are leaders in their respective fields as well take advantage of complimentary golf clinics, hosted by the Latina Golfers Association and the PGA of America.  Friday will be a packed agenda and includes the following sessions:

    • OMG! What Language Are You Speaking? A Cross Generational Conversation
    • Gallup StrengthsFinder 2.0 Workshop
    • Leadership: What’s Your Style? Executive Leadership Styles Defined
