Statewide advocates will gather to stop modern-day slavery
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo), in conjunction with the National Association of Social Workers, will host the 5th Annual Human Trafficking Awareness Day on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Ohio Statehouse. The day’s events will facilitate and further the conversation about the rise of human trafficking in Ohio.
Rep. Fedor has championed legislation to criminalize and ultimately end the demand for human trafficking in Ohio, including Senate Bill 235 and House Bill 262, the Safe Harbor Act. House Bill 130, the End Demand Act, was unanimously approved by the Ohio House in June.
CLE and CEU credits will be available to increase awareness of human trafficking among professionals.
