ONE STORY A DAY / Una historia para cada Día es una iniciativa para celebrar el Mes de la Herencia Hispana 2024 de la Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA y Latina Today Podcast series.
Ana es oriunda de Moca, República Dominicana y a los 18 años llegó a New York con su familia. Su pasión por trabajar con la comunidad hispana comenzó en Nueva York y ha continuado desde que se mudó para Cincinnati hace más de 19 años. Ana habla de sus desafíos personales, su experiencia como inmigrante navegando una nueva cultura, un nuevo idioma y un sistema educativo completamente diferente a su país natal.
Ana ha trabajado por más de 15 años en el sistema educativo del Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Princeton y es la Enlace de Padres Bilingües del Distrito y Líder de Participación Familiar. Ana tiene un gran interés por la educación, tiene un título asociado en Educación y Administración de la Primera Infancia de University of Education y una Licenciatura en Artes en Estudios Educativos de la Universidad Mount St. Joseph. Actualmente cursa una Maestría en Estudios Educativos con el Certificado de Diversidad, Equidad e Inclusión. Como líder y miembro de la comunidad, Ana comparte un consejo a las personas y a la comunidad latina de Ohio.
About Ana Martinez: I was born and raised in Moca, Dominican Republic, I immigrated to the United states at the age of 18. I hold an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and Administration from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies from Mount St.
Joseph University. Currently I am pursuing a Master’s Degree in Educational Studies with the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Certificate. I have been working in the education system for 15 years in the Princeton City School District as the District Bilingual Parent Liaison and Family Engagement Leader. My journey working with the community began in New York. Later I moved to Cincinnati Ohio bringing my experience and expertise working with the community and since then I have been actively engaged with the community for over 19 years.
My personal challenges navigating a new culture and education system highlighted the need for support, inspiring me to become a family engagement leader and parent advocate.
It is my passion to work and support the community.
