February 7, 2013 – The Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University and the Small Business Administration (SBA) will host their monthly Exporter Forum from 7:30am-9:00am at Mason Hall on the OSU campus.  This month’s topic will be International Legal Considerations.  Participants will have a chance to hear David Wilson of Kegler Brown, a local international attorney, on the legal aspects of exporting their products. February 13, 2013 – The International Trade Assistance Center (ITAC) at Wright State University, the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Small Business Administration (SBA) will host their monthly Exporter Forum from 7:30am-9:00am at Rike Hall on the WSU campus.  This month’s topic will be Export Shipping Documentation.  Participants will have a chance to hear from Dan Allen from U.S. Worldwide Logistics on the documentation and process of shipping products overseas.  For more information and to register, please contact Alex Kohls at 614-633-6372.

March 5, 2013 – The Columbus Council on World Affairs will be hosting the 2013 International Awards Ceremony in Columbus.  This is the Council’s premiere annual event in which they recognize the outstanding global contributions of local leaders and educators.  This year’s honoree is the City of Columbus which will be accepted by Mayor Michael Coleman.  To register, please visit here.

March 6-15, 2013 – The Ohio Development Services Agency and Council of Great Lakes Governors invite Ohio companies to take part in a multi-sector Trade Mission to South Africa.  Visit www.IMAGE.development.ohio.gov to apply for a 50% reimbursement!  Deadline to register: January 23, 2013.

May 20-24, 2013 – The Ohio Development Services Agency and Reed Exhibitions International Sales Group invite Ohio companies to take part in Feiplastic 2013, the largest space in Latin America for networking and presenting the latest trends and new product launchings in the plastics sector.  Contact Emily Tucker at (614) 466-5336 to sign up and visit the IMAGE website to apply for a 50 percent reimbursement.  

The Ohio International Market Access Grant for Exporters (IMAGE) program continues to accept applications!

IMAGE is a program funded by the State of Ohio and the U.S. Small Business Administration as part of the National Export Initiative to double U.S. exports by 2015. This program is designed to increase exports and create jobs by helping small businesses to promote their products and services in new international markets.  Ohio has received additional funding for this program that will extend until September 30, 2013.  There are updates to the program including increased reimbursement amounts and activities covered.  Please visit the website to learn more.

Qualifying Ohio companies can apply for up to $15,000 (50% financial reimbursement on $30,000 in expenditures) to offset the costs of export-related activities such as: international trade show participation, subscription to services provided by the U.S. Commercial Service, export education programs, marketing and translation services, and international trade mission participation. Ohio Export Internship Program

The Ohio Development Services Agency and the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University are accepting applications from companies that are looking to export for the first time or to improve their current export initiatives.  This program matches companies with students who have been educated on exporting and will provide a 50% reimbursement of the intern’s wages.  For more information and to register, please visit here.

 

Ohio Incumbent Workforce Training Voucher Program

The Ohio Development Services Agency is accepting applications from companies who are interested in improving their economic competitiveness through skill-upgrade training.  This program can help to offset up to 50% of the costs of this training.  The caps on the program are $500,000 per eligible company and/or $4,000 per eligible employee for trainings completed between February 4, 2013 and June 30, 2013.  The funds available are on a first come, first served basis.  For more information, please visit www.development.ohio.gov/bs/bs_wtvp.htm
