CINCINNATI–Auditions for Cincinnati Opera’s 2016 Summer Festival Chorus will be held at the Corbett Opera Center in Music Hall, 1243 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio on December 3, 4, 5, and 6, 2015.

Audition times must be scheduled in advance. Interested persons may schedule an audition by emailing auditions@cincinnatiopera.org. Audition times will be assigned beginning November 9, 2015.

Email requests for an audition should include the following:

  • Name
  • Voice type
  • Phone number
  • Availability on audition dates (December 3, 4, 5, and 6)
  • Resume detailing performance experience
  • Headshots appreciated but not required
Singers should prepare two (2) contrasting arias in the original languages. An accompanist will be provided.

About the Cincinnati Opera Chorus
The Cincinnati Opera Chorus is a paid, professional chorus under the jurisdiction of AGMA, the American Guild of Musical Artists. Rehearsals and performances for the 2016 Summer Festival will begin in mid-May (exact start dates TBD) and run through July 29.
Residents from outside of the greater Cincinnati area are welcome and encouraged to audition. However, applicants should be aware that most chorus members tend to be cast locally.
2016 Season
The 2016 Summer Festival, which runs from June 16 to July 29, will open with the sparkling Viennese operetta Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss, Jr. Next, Cincinnati Opera presents the world premiere of Fellow Travelers, with music by Gregory Spears and a libretto by Greg Pierce. The season continues with Ludwig van Beethoven’s only opera, Fidelio, and will close with a beautiful new production of Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca. All four mainstage productions will be presented at the Aronoff Center for the Arts in Downtown Cincinnati due to renovation work at Music Hall. Cincinnati Opera will kick off the season with Opera in the Park, a free concert in Washington Park, on June 12. All performances feature the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
