Cincinnati festival brings together the tristate Latino population and the whole community in the biggest celebration of Cinco de Mayo

CINCINNATI, Ohio (April 24, 2017) – The fourteenth annual Cincy-Cinco is set for May 5,6 & 7 on Fountain Square.

Cincy-Cinco, the tristate region’s premier Latino cultural fest, is a family-friendly event that showcases Latino culture, values and traditions.

“We want people of all ages and backgrounds to have the opportunity to enjoy and learn about the rich heritage of Latino music, dance and food” said Neil Comber, a founder of Cincy-Cinco.

This year the event will be the longest ever starting on the evening of Friday May 5 and going through to Sunday evening.

Some of the attractions include a children’s area where, with the help of Home Depot employees and volunteers, they can decorate flower pots for their mothers or make an item of jewelry. Mariachi Zelaya will stroll the square serenading families and there will be raffles for items like Macy’s gift cards, lunch or dinner courtesy of our fine authentic restaurants, and samples from some of our many sponsors.

Music from the region’s hottest Salsa bands, Tropicoso and Orquesta Kandela, will be featured throughout the weekend. And there will be traditional dancing from Mexico, Colombia, Panama, and a return of a dance troupe from Brazil. For the first time ever, Cincy-Cinco Festival will premiere a Latino anthem to the city of Cincinnati composed by Alfonso Victoria and performed by the composer and Alberto Daglio on Saturday afternoon.

With an ever growing interest in Latin foods, attendees will be able to enjoy a great variety of authentic cuisine from many Latin American countries. Some of the featured food will be Caribbean chicken & pork dishes, Colombian arepas, Venezuelan empanadas, Tropical Shaved Ice and new this year gourmet Mexican tacos of fish, chicken and beef.

Chair Alfonso Cornejo commented: “We are so happy and proud that this event is becoming a great tradition in this city to add to the many other wonderful events and traditions. And this year we are very happy that the weekend coincides with May 5 (Cinco de Mayo) so that adults and children alike can come and enjoy the Fiesta all weekend long”. Cincy-Cinco will be a great compliment to those coming to see the Reds or the Flying Pig Marathon that weekend.

Many of the corporate sponsors, like P&G, PNC Bank and Kroger, will be there to showcase and sample their products and services in fun interactive ways.

The event is the largest Latino cultural celebration in the region. It runs 6-11pm on Friday, noon to 11pm on Saturday and noon to 6pm on Sunday. Over the last few years attendance has been between 10,000 and12,000.  As in every year since its inception, proceeds will be used to benefit tristate education and health focused charities that support the Latino community.
